What is ThermoScan?

ThermoScan¡¦s innovative technology sets new standards for the treatment of wrinkles, sun-damaged and several other skin conditions. It is a non-invasive treatment that works by targeting both the epidermis (surface) and dermis (mid layer of skin) simultaneously. ThermoScan is a special pulsed infrared laser that can selectively target the region in your skin responsible for improving collagen. Colagen utilizes the carbon dioxide (CO2) Laser, in itself the proven gold atandard in skin resurfacing, with unique technology known as fractional photothermolysis. This is accomplished by creating an array of thousands of ultra fine, tiny but deep columns of ablated tissue that are invisible to the naked eye known as Microthermal Ablative Zones (MAZ).

These microthermal ablative zones penetrate deep into the dermis and act to encourage the bodyu¡¦s natural healing response which equals to collagenesis and collagen remodeling over a period of days. Through this healing response, physicians can effect a skin tightening and rejuvenative effects as well as minimizing fine wrinkles around the periorbital area as well the marionette line in addition to significant improvement in acne scars and other forms of scarring. Because the skin surface remains intact, patients can conduct treatment as a daycare procedure and even return to work the same day with minimal discomfort or pain.

How long does the treatment take?

ThermoScan treatment uses an infrared laser to rejuvenate your skin from the inside out. The laser energy delivered by the ThermoScan penetrates into the upper layers of your skin. The energy absorbed by the targeted areas stimulates the fibroblast cells in your skin to begin generating collagen. This treatment helps restore your skin to its natural beauty, making it softer, smoother and more vibrant.

Will it be uncomfortable?

ThermoScan laser treatment is gentle and non-invasive. There should be minimal discomfort. You may feel a warming of the skin or a rubber band snap like sensation as the procedure is performed. However, this varies from patient to patient and depends on the depth of the treatment. A topical anesthetic cream can be used on extra-sensitive areas. However, no injections are needed.

What are the precautions should I take after treatment?
To keep the treated area moist, you will require applying moisturizer and sunscreen of SPF 30 or above (prescription by your physician) every 3-4 hours on the treated area for at least 2 weeks. Avoiding from direct sun exposure is necessary for at least 2-3 months.

Skin care products contain of acids content like vitamin C should be avoided for 3 to 5 days.

How many treatments will I need?

A series of 5 or more treatments are suggested to stimulate new collagen growth. Most people will begin to see benefits by the 4th treatment. Results are cumulative with maximum benefits achieved in about 1 year. We also recommend regular touch-up treatments to sustain the continued growth of new collagen as you age.

What should I expect after the treatment?
Immediately after the treatment, patient may experience slight to significant redness and edema depending on the levels of treatment. Scab will be formed within 1 to 2 days. In general, redness will disappear within 2-3 days, whereas the shedding may take a little longer to complete a cycle of one time treatment.

How is the procedure like?
A full face of COLAGEN treatment procedure will take only 15-20 minutes. It is a minimally invasive procedure with topical anesthesia.

With COLAGEN fractional technology, physicians are able to customize a variety of variables such as the depth and spacing between each micro ablative zone to uniquely design each treatment session according to patient need.
